Based in Wiltshire's beautiful Chalke Valley, the Eleanor Oborne Garden Design studio is well placed for clients in the South and South West, as well as further afield. Eleanor's inspiration when designing and advising on gardens often comes from these countryside surroundings, and the emotional connection being in nature inspires within us. She recognises the importance of making the most of views and distance in the garden, whether it's a smaller courtyard or large family garden.
Eleanor is a qualified Garden Designer, trained at the prestigious Garden Design School based at The University of Bristol's Botanic Gardens. She has an extremely keen eye for detail and finesse, and understands the importance of clean simple lines and elegant planting for creating gardens which work for clients. Eleanor specialises in low impact and wildlife-friendly gardens, which settle comfortably and naturally into their surroundings.
Eleanor grew up surrounded by Hampshire countryside and with both parents absolutely passionate about the garden and natural world. From Dad, she gained an understanding of trees, woodland and countryside management, whilst Mum imparted her knowledge of kitchen and productive gardening and perennials. Their enthusiasm and ability to coax the best out of their plants gave Eleanor a long standing enjoyment of gardening and being outside, and honed her eye for the fine details which make a garden.
She also carries with her the knowledge and experience gained in a successful career in the sustainability and wildlife conservation sector, which helps her to create wildlife friendly and sustainable gardens in line with client's wishes.
